These above quotes are from the Holy Book of one of the world’s oldest and third largest religion Hinduism’s one of the most respected and holy book Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. But, I discovered these noble verses first time in my life while looking for some outstanding communities to write a review and I came across one most beautiful, impressive and certainly a community which made my mind “cool”, tranquil and blissful.
Shrimad Bhagawad Gita a community on orkut is not different than many similar communities of same name and objectives who are actively spreading the sayings of Lord Krishna to Arjuna in the Holy book of Shrimad Bhagawad Gita. Although, only this particular community grabbed my attention because of the dedication and strength of unity and love community members are sharing with each other. Also, it is one of the biggest among all other with more than 70,000 members; Shrimad Bhagawad Gita community is a not only a place of religious devotees but also welcome those who have queries, doubts or problems in their worldly affairs or those who are interested in learning and sharing their thoughts.
Created on 13th February 2004, Shrimad Bhagawad Gita community on orkut plays a major role in helping people and making social networking more meaningful than ever. The creator of the community one Mr. Ted Rallis when realized that he could not give his time and dedication since he was occupied with other commitments he transferred the community ownership to one very active member Gaurav Mittal. In Gaurav’s ownership Shrimad Bhagawad Geeta community keeps on flourishing till mid 2008 but unfortunately Gaurav Mittal was also came under other work pressure and studies. Amritam a new community owner of orkut’s most prestigious and extremely spiritual community is working for a voluntary organization dedicated to Swami Vivekananda in Kerala (India).
When asked “what is Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to you?” in an e-mail conversation with amritam, Amritam said “We all of have to start our spiritual journey some time or other, yes this has been a daily divine digest for me to lead an ideal life for so many years. I seek inspiration from two sources one is from Srimad Bhagavad Gita and the other is from Swami Vivekananda’s words.”
Like Amritam, most of the community members think same and tries to make their days, years and whole life on the path of the holy teachings of Lord Krishna. Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a solution for all the problems that society faces today, said Amritam.
Besides all sharing and learning of verses the community moderators are also trying to conduct some very interesting quizzes and competitions to make people involve more proactively. Though, the objective is only to encourage the discussions of the teachings of Srimad Bhagavad Gita spread in its various chapters. The community is mainly divided into two major groups of people, one who are well sound with the Holy Book and others who seeks knowledge and information to clear their doubts or to get more precise information, which makes this community“Knowledge Bank”. Other than the main objective of the community Srimad Bhagawad Gita community also welcome the thoughts and teachings of other different Hindu school of thoughts like Advaita, Dvaita, Vishistadvaita as well as Metaphysical interpretations of the Gita in many forum threads where any one can get knowledge from various sources.
Managing such a big community is really a challenge for community owner and a team of moderators. Luckily, this community has some outstanding and most dedicated team of mods who maintain the community standard, its cleanliness and rules of the community strictly. Amritam gives all the credits of a brilliant team work and management to the team of moderators.
Mainly, youths from India are in mainstream and comprising the whole community. This shows the religious and spiritual awareness or need among the young Indian generation who found a best virtual place for sacred teachings. There are many “Srimad Bhagawad Gita” communities on orkut but none of the community owners felt any competition or threat with each other like other technical or entertaining communities always have big clash over its inventiveness. The purpose is to serve people, enlighten the mind and soul and to spread peace and love among every faith and religion. With such a noble and pious intention, I think it is one of the best efforts to clean out hatred and envy.
